Mediterranean Nachos with Garlicky Yogurt, Chickpeas and Harissa

What a yummy, yummy dish!! You thought nachos were already an ultimate pleaser but then you try this twist and its such a tie!! I love the spicy kick of harissa with cool, tasty and tangy garlicky yogurt. The chickpeas give great texture and the addition of pita chips makes this dish authentically, exotically a must experience, delicious recipe to try!  

Ingredients

For the Nachos

  • 3 whole wheat pitas, broken into triangles

  • 3 Tbsp olive

  • 1 tsp thyme

  • 2 cups yogurt

  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Harissa Sauce

  • 7 dried red chili peppers

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp ground coriander

  • 1 tsp ground caraway seeds

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.

  2. In a food processer, pulse the ingredients for harissa until a smooth paste forms.

  3. On a baking sheet, toss pita pieces with olive oil, thyme, and salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Transfer baking sheet to oven and bake 8-10 minutes, until toasted.

  5. In a bowl, mix the yogurt and garlic well.

  6. Arrange pita pieces on a serving plate. Drizzle with garlicky yogurt and harissa then pile chickpeas in the center. Garnish with a piece of parsley and enjoy!
